The Short Mystery Fiction Society is an online group of almost 1000 members, most of whom are writers, editors or publishers of short mystery fiction. Unlike many other writing groups, we aren't a place to read and critique stories, although you can certainly make contacts there and do that sort of thing off-list.
Rather, the group acts as an online forum where we can share news about new and exisiting markets as well as ask for and post advice and experiences about pretty much anything to do with writing short mystery fiction. It's a moderated group, which means that discussions remain on topic and civilized.
The group also hands out Derringer Awards each year in various length categories of short mystery fiction.
I was honored to be elected President of this fine group in July of 2006, and will remain in office until July of 2008. Molly MacRae is the current Vice President.
