Who the heck knows?
See, the thing is, I'm very comfortable writing stories with an element of crime and/or mystery to them, but I always think of my writing as stories first, which then always seem to involve a crime of some sort or another. Actually, they all involve inner conflict that is the result of, or motivation for, crime.
I really like exploring people who get caught up in events that are bigger than they are, and who must then try to deal with things as best they can. I truly believe that this makes for interesting reading, because we can all identify with that situation (Hello...High School anyone?). People pushed to their limits also make interesting choices, and that's always interesting to me as a writer, and hopefully to you, as a reader.
Having said that, I think my style is pretty easygoing and readable, which lends itself to the crime/mystery genre pretty well. So if that makes me a crime writer or a mystery writer, then heck, yeah.
I Yam what I Yam.
Oops. Just set myself up for all kinds of Mr. Potato head jokes, there, didn't I? Guess there's a price to pay for misquoting Popeye.
